Leighton Buzzard Canal Society
Description
The Canal Society formed in 1984 founded by a small band of concerned boat owners and friends to stimulate an interest in the traditional working of the Canal and its people.
In particular, our own Grand Union Canal passing through Linslade
(Leighton Buzzard).
The Society run various visits throughout the year to places of Canal and transport interest and hold meetings for like minded members usually in The Globe Inn, Linslade.
Membership Fee is £ 5.00 per annum for 'all classes'. The Secretary produces a quarterly newsletter entitled 'Winding Point' and members engage in their photography.
Some are boat owners, bringing together an eclectic mix of ages and interests which would suit any interested parties.

Whether you are a lifetime enthusiast or new to our cause, we invite you to join us. We welcome new ideas and value enthusiasm from members and volunteers or any age, new and old.
You are welcome whatever your interest in the canals and waterways. Maybe you are interested in local canal affairs or are a writer or like the idea of a social waterway connected life.
You may like the traditional working narrow boats that used to ply the waterways so regularly or you may prefer the more leisurely pleasure boats.
If you like fishing that's fine also even if you simply prefer to be fished!!
You may like walking along the canal or if you like simply enjoying the flora and fauna of the canal that's fine! It doesn't matter to us. Any reason is good and we look forward to welcoming you.
Whatever your interest, you will be welcomed warmly!
